Ever since I was nearly a baby, I knew computers were my future. My first computer experience that I can recall is making "train tracks" on my Grandpa's old 286 TANDY. You do this by holding down shift and "i" until the screen is filled with "train tracks!"

Around 9 or 10, I got my very own TANDY. I think it was also a 286, but I can't remember. My grandpa had already taught me how to get around in MS-DOS, so I decided to grab a book of BASIC programming and start copying line by line.

Eventually I got to the point where I could whip up my own text-adventure games, and I even made a 2-d racing game on my own. I could never get ahold of anything new for my computer, but I did manage to go through a few 2/3/486es before my first "Windows" machine.

I remember my first "modern computer" very clearly. It was an Acer brand, with a really weird "holes" pattern all over it (I actually remember using "acer" as my password back in those days. Ah, security.) It was a horizontal proprietary case, and a big huge CRT monitor. With a blazing 90MHz Pentium.

It was around this time I started to make my own websites. The first few things I made were just awful, by today's standards, but there was still something magical about making my own website by hand, and having it out there, for anyone to see.

After high school, working a couple dead end jobs, making a couple friends' websites, and building my own Perl-based web site with photo hosting for my friends, I decided to try for an internship as a web developer.

I got to work for the wonderful guys at attensa and YouSoftware for a couple years. I met a lot of amazing people there, including Russ Hayes and Scott Niesen, who taught me more in the months I was there than I had ever learned on my own.

Eventually I found my way to M+BG via my old friend Calvin Carl. I've been here for nearly 3 years, cranking out beautiful websites every week.

Front-end web development is the backbone of any website. It comprises the general layout, typography, and user interface of your website. Using Javascript can add another dimension to the user experience, like Flash, without sacrificing SEO and without any additional software to be installed.

Here you can find a showcase of some of the websites I've done front-end development for. None of these websites were designed by me, but all of them were hand-coded by me.

Wordpess is a content management system (CMS) that primarily functions as a blog. However, with the use of some of Wordpress' Plugins and my own formulated PHP, you can take Wordpress into an entirely new dimension. It can be used to run and manage your entire website, and you can manage your site without the use of complicated code.
